Leader in Me Spotlight: Kelsi Firsick

Hi! My name is Kelsi Firsick and this is my third year at iLEAD Lancaster teaching 5th grade. I am a member of The Lighthouse team as well as an iSPIRIT coach. The reason behind my “why” for iLEAD Lancaster is that I am able to teach as uniquely as my learners learn. iLEAD allows me to meet each of my learners’ individual needs without compromising the education of the class as a whole. I love that I can go from teaching math with food, to ELA with an art project, to science with hands-on experiments, all in a day’s work.

Learners take ownership of their education in my classroom, and it allows them to feel accomplished and responsible when a goal is achieved or a math lesson finally clicks. I love iLEAD because of the small “family feel.” I am able to create and maintain relationships with not only my own learners and their families, but also with learners from kinder all the way to high school.
