Middle School Welcomes a Special Visitor from Two Bit Circus
Katherine Bomkamp visited our middle school learners on December 17. Katherine is a creative strategist, using her unique experiences to create engaging STEAM-focused educational content at Two Bit Circus. She has a background in engineering, entrepreneurship, biomedical technology, and dog rescuing.
Our learners listened to Katherine share her story of how in high school she developed the Pain-Free Socket, a device that uses thermal biofeedback in prosthetics to eliminate phantom pain in amputees. The learners asked thought-provoking questions and were inspired by her passion and drive to help others.
GoSchoolers Study Great Art Masters
Our GoSchoolers have been learning about artists, art concepts, and techniques. They created pastels of Monet’s Haystacks while learning about warm and cool colors. They created sculptures with foil while learning about Degas and his Little Dancer. Michelangelo inspired their soap carvings. They experienced the meticulous work of Seurat’s Pointillism. They moved to art of the USA and studied C.M. Russell’s western art while creating watercolors and silhouettes. They even touched on “Op Art” and learned how to use lines to create a three-dimensional image while studying Vasarely. They finished their study with Van Gogh and used impasto paints to create a scene inspired by Starry Night. They were inspired by great masters of art to create their own masterpieces.
